KORBO SPE (SEN)

A toolkit for working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on an individual or group basis.

The SPE set includes:

  • 5 bags of KORBO blocks: 4 green for students and one yellow for the teacher,
  • a book containing scenario-based activities for individuals and groups.

BLOCKS

In each bag, there are 18 blocks of different colours, shapes, sizes, and thicknesses.
Blocks are characterized by certain features that can be perceived by the senses, such as sight or touch.

Playing with Korbo supports:

  • Child’s cognitive skills development, including the development of deep senses such as sight, hearing, and touch.
  • Development of eye-hand coordination.
  • Spatial perception.
  • Creative and reproductive skills.
  • Development of the child’s social skills and emotional development.
  • The ability to memorize and reproduce information from memory.

It is the dynamics of the constructed structures, triggering the gears, and the possibility of rapid reconstruction that make this set attractive to both older and younger children.

THE BOOK

Korbo SEN book contains a variety of fantastic exercises and games that have been practised by therapists working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The exercises and games included in the book are a treasure trove of knowledge and prompts for carrying out creative activities individually, in pairs, as a team, in a group, or with the whole class.

The exercises encourage the use of blocks as therapeutic interventions in the following areas:

  • Processes of cognitive development and shaping.
  • Early development support.
  • Social skills development.
  • Small and large motor skills development in children with special educational needs.

The book is divided into 10 subsections according to their application areas.

It is crucial to note that most tasks are open-ended, since they can easily be modified to fit your own therapeutic goals, your classes’ structure, and participants’ educational level.

IMPORTANT!

Korbo’s exercises facilitate discovery and experience. There is a wide variety of activities in the program. Using them, ideas can be implemented and tasks can be solved in different ways. By using blocks in this way, the exercises become extremely creative. Creative activities eliminate the concept of schematic thinking, which encourages original solutions.

Korbo Blocks provide great opportunities for creative play. Through the use of the interesting exercises included in the Korbo SEN book, the blocks can be used as a therapeutic tool to implement therapeutic activities in play for almost any child with special educational needs.
